Prior to relocating to the United Arab Emirates in January 2008 to join The National as a staff photographer, Ryan Carter worked as a freelance photographer in Toronto, Canada.
Recently, Carter has completed assignments for The New York Times Magazine, The International Herald Tribune and Monocle. His work has also been featured in The Sunday Times Magazine, D la Repubblica delle Donne/D Magazine, Canadian Geographic and Chatelaine.
In 2008 and 2009, Carter was selected for the Magenta Foundation’s Flash Forward exhibition and book.
