Ryan is a documentary and portrait photographer based in Toronto.

Between 2010 and 2017, Ryan worked as an official photographer at the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, where he covered the domestic and international events of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

In this position he gained fascinating insight into Emirati culture, and the inner workings of international politics through the activities of an acting head of state. While in this position he photographed meetings in more than 30 countries with over 100 different heads of state, including President Obama, President Trump, President Emmanuel Macron, Emperor Akihito of Japan, President Xi Jinping, King Mohamed VI of Morocco, and Queen Elizabeth of the UK.

Outside of his role as an official photographer, Ryan has been very fortunate to work both in Canada and internationally with a variety of clients.

Editorial clients include: Canadian Geographic, Chatelaine, D la Repubblica delle Donne (D Magazine), The Globe and Mail, Grazia Neri Agency, International Herald Tribune, M Magazine, Monocle, The New York Times Magazine, Report on Business Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Surface, and The Walrus.

Government and corporate clients include: 3M, Accenture, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), The Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi, Eurocopter, European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), The Ministry of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, and Thales.

Ryan’s work has been featured in several publications and books including the Communication Arts Photography Annual, the Gallery 44 Emergence book, the Magenta Foundation Flash Forward book, and the Magenta Foundation Carte Blanche book.

His photographs have also been exhibited in group shows in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Including the Ian Parry exhibition at the Getty Images Gallery in London, the Foto 8 Summer Show at the Host Gallery in London, and the traveling Flash Forward exhibitions in both Canada and the United States.
